All businesses in Normal must be licensed with the Town Clerk.
There is no fee for this license.
Licenses are valid January 1st - December 31st and are renewed yearly by January 10th.
Licenses will be issued once the application is submitted, and all taxes and debts owed to the Town of Normal are paid.
You are required to keep the Clerk's Office informed of changes in you business. This is vital to the Police and Fire Departments' responses in the event of an emergency.
You may pick up forms at the Clerk's Office or print and complete the Business License Application (PDF) and return it to the Town Clerk's Office on the second floor of Uptown Station/City Hall. The office is open Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm.
If your business is home based please read the related Town Ordinance below. Once you submit your application the Inspections Department will contact you, via email, to confirm your home based business will comply with the Home Occupation Regulations. Once complete the Clerk's Office will receive notification to complete your business license.
