- Constitution Trail
In 1986, the Town of Normal and the City of Bloomington began purchasing right-of-way property of the abandoned Illinois Central railway with the vision of developing a linear park. A year later, a portion of the trail was dedicated and named “Constitution Trail” in celebration of the U.S. Constitution bicentennial.
The Trail blossomed and now reaches many segments of the Twin City metropolis. The trail is one of the most treasured and utilized recreational amenities within the Town of Normal. Numerous trailhead parking areas and trail connections make for easy access for all to enjoy.
The Friends of the Constitution Trail is a civic group advocating for the expansion and beautification of the entire trail system. Through membership dues, donations and grants, the group helps fund Trail improvements and amenities. To learn more about this effort, visit their website.
