Bike Related Events

Various bicycle group rides are coordinated by the local bike shops and by local bicycle advocacy groups.  See individual websites for more information.

Light the Night gives away hundreds of bike lights every year. Organized by the Town of Normal, Connect Transit, and Bike BloNo, the event happens the first Thursday in September in Uptown Normal.

The Bike Rodeo is an annual event in Uptown Normal designed for children to learn more about bike safety through participating in fun and educational biking skill stations.  The rodeo takes place the last Saturday of September as part of the annual Worldwide Day of Play event.

Tour de Taco is put on by Bike BloNo every September. Hundreds of people spend the day riding all over the community and eating tacos at local restaurants and food trucks.

The Miller Chill Cyclocross Race is held each December in Miller Park in Bloomington as part of the Heart of Illinois Cyclocross (HICX) Series.

Bloomington Criterium is a state championship bike race held annually from 2013-2016.

Pedaling for Kicks is an annual bike ride held in Hudson, Illinois, just north of Bloomington-Normal.

Miles of Smiles 100 is a 100-mile bike ride fundraiser held the last Saturday of July each year. All proceeds from the event are donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Good to Go is an annual commuter challenge organized by the McLean County Regional Planning Commission in which participants are encouraged to use alternative transportation such as bicycles, buses, and carpooling.
