Anderson Park

David S. Anderson Park History

10.5 acres was acquired by Normal in 1962, which was known as Ash Park.  In 1962, the National Recreation Association was hired to develop a master park plan to apply to the land. In 1967, a survey showed the town had need for a second aquatic center, so a bond was issued to begin construction on a pool. In 1998, Ash park was renamed Anderson Park after the former Normal Parks Director David S. Anderson. Since then, the park has added several amenities to the park which include a picnic area, playground, ballfield, basketball courts and lighted tennis courts.
