Learn to Swim (3 years - 15 years old)

Children venture into the water on their own, while progressing at their own pace through seven swim levels. Once students pass the skills test for a particular level, they will move on to the next level. Participants MUST ATTEND the Testing Day for each session. This assists with placement into classes.

Please see our latest Activity Guide for class dates and times.

Learn to Swim Private 1:1 Lessons (3 years - 15 years old)

1 on 1 instruction will be provided for swimmers ages 3-15 looking for more individualized attention during class. Skills from the Learn to Swim Program will be focused on, but each lesson will be custom tailored to the needs of the participant. Private lessons will NOT be taught outside the dates and times of the listed classes.

Please see our latest Activity Guide for class dates and times.

Jr. Lifeguard Program

This program was developed to give participants ages 13-15 the opportunity to learn the basic skills that will be required when pursuing a Jeff Ellis and Associates lifeguard license. Skills learned in the class will prepare each student for the responsibilities faced while being a lifeguard. Each participant will learn water safety and rescue protocol as well as First Aid and CPR/AED skills.

Some students, who complete all of the Jr. Lifeguard program, will be selected to volunteer at the Normal Parks and Recreation Aquatic Facilities. This course does not provide a certification of any type but does give students valuable experience toward future employment.

Swimmin' Sharks Swim Team

This program is open to youth ages 3-17. The only requirement to be part of the team is to be able to swim at least one length of the pool. It is especially helpful to those who are new to competitive swimming or who just like to give it a try! Season begins the first week in June and ends the last week of July.

Swimmers are separated into age groups of equal ability at the first practice. Novice or new competitive swimmers will swim together, and experience swimmers will swim together. All participants will receive a t-shirt and are guaranteed participation in the Twin City dual meet schedule. Morning and evening practices are available, hosted at Anderson Aquatic Center. Most meets take place on Tuesday evenings.

The Swimmin' Sharks have finished the past 8 seasons (2010-2017) undefeated as the Twin City Swim Conference Champions! An informational meeting takes place in May to provide more details and answer questions.
