Self-Service Electronics Recycling

State law requires recycling of the following electronics:
Televisions, monitors, printers, computers, electronic keyboards, facsimile machines, videocassette recorders, portable digital music players, digital video disc players, video game consoles, small scale servers, scanners, electronic mice, digital converter boxes, cable receivers, satellite receivers and digital video disc recorders.

The above items above will not be picked up curbside with our bulky waste collection.

Self-Service Electronic Recycling Hours for McLean County Residents

There may not be anyone to help you unload your electronics so we recommend you bring someone to help if you have electronics that are too heavy for you to handle.

Regular Hours (Labor Day - Memorial Day)
  • Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 2:30 pm
  • 1st Saturday of each month, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Summer Hours (Memorial Day - Labor Day)

  • Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 1:30 pm
  • 1st Saturday of each month, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Other sites in the Bloomington-Normal area offer electronics recycling, which may result in reuse of workable items or cash/store credit for limited items.  Additional information is available at the Ecology Action Center website.

The following items are also accepted:
  • Most forms of electronic media and their cases (diskettes, zip disks, CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, DVDs, game cartridges, DAT, DLT, Beta or Digibeta and virtually all other type of computer tapes)- not audio or video tapes
  • All forms of printer cartridges, including both inkjet and toner
  • All types of cell phones, pagers, PDAs and their chargers, cables and headset accessories. Please note that cell phones and chargers can be dropped off at the Normal Police department for re-use by victims of domestic violence.
  • All small computer accessories, such as MP3 players, iPods, digital cameras, hand-held scanners, hand-held games and other connected devices
