Curbside Recycling

The Town of Normal offers single stream curbside recycling to residents who qualify for curbside garbage collection. In order to participate, you must have a Town-issued, wheeled cart. If you have a spare Town-issued garbage cart, you may use it for
the recycling program, once you adhere a set of recycling stickers (see last bullet below).

Recycle carts will be emptied on your regular garbage collection day. Carts must be placed curbside no later than 6 a.m. to ensure collection.

Yellow-Lid Recycle Cart

Yellow-Lid Recycle Carts


Starting in April 2015, we gradually began converting sticker-labeled recycle carts to Yellow-Lid recycle carts. Until the conversion is complete (which may take several years), both Town-issued carts with yellow lids and those with recycle stickers will be eligible for recycling collection. All new recycle cart purchases will have yellow lids and Town staff will be gradually changing the lids, for no additional fee, on carts that are put out for collection. At this time, yellow lids will not be changed on existing recycle carts with decals by request.
