Town of Normal Appoints New Assistant City Manager

A new Assistant City Manager has been selected and will be starting employment with the Town on Monday, January 7, 2019, per an announcement from City Manager Pam Reece.

“We are extremely pleased to have Mr. Eric Hanson join the Town of Normal in this leadership role,” said Reece. “We are extremely fortunate to have attracted someone with his local government experience and with his vision and passion to assist the Town in achieving our goals.” 

Mr. Hanson began his local government administration career in Monmouth, Illinois, serving as City Administrator from 2007 to 2012. From there, he served as City Manager of Indianola, Iowa from 2012 to 2015 until moving to Ballwin, Missouri to serve as its City Administrator.

“I’m beyond excited to start this next chapter in my career and look forward to all the future holds for me in Normal,” stated Eric Hanson.

Mr. Hanson has been active in the International City/County Management Association, Missouri City Management Association and St. Louis Area City Management Association, among other professional organizations.  

Ms. Teri Legner, Director of Information Technology, has served as the Interim Assistant City Manager since the promotion of Pam Reece to City Manager in April 2018. Ms. Legner will continue to serve as the Director of Information Technology and as a key member of the leadership team following Mr. Hanson’s addition to the organization.
