Chapter 19 - Amusements
Division 3 - Motion Pictures; Theatricals

SEC. 19.3-1 PERMIT. No person, firm or corporation shall operate a movie house or place where moving pictures are shown for profit without first obtaining a license to do so. This section shall not apply to educational or religious institutions which show or cause to be shown educational or religious films, the proceeds of which are to be used in the furtherance of their respective institutions. Said section shall not apply to persons, firms or corporations showing moving pictures for which no charge of admission is made.

SEC. 19. 3-2 APPLICATION. Application for said license shall be made to the Town Council of said Town and shall contain the name of the person, firm or corporation who will operate or manage said movie house, the name of the owner or lessor and lessee of the building or structure to be used as such, the seating capacity of said movie house, the number of exits located in said house and a floor plan showing their location.

SEC. 19.3-3 LICENSE. No license shall be issued to any person, firm or corporation unless the building in which said moving pictures are to be shown meets with all the requirements of the State Fire Marshal of Illinois and the laws of the Town of Normal, Illinois, relative to fire hazards.

SEC. 19.3-4 ASSIGNMENT. No license, after being granted, shall be assignable.

SEC. 19.3-5 ADMISSION. The price of admission shall be printed upon the tickets used for admission to said movie house. No more than the number of persons for which such place has seating capacity shall be allowed to enter or occupy such movie house at any one time. All doors in said movie house shall open outward.

SEC. 19.3-6 FEE. Every person, firm or corporation applying for such license shall pay as a tax and fee therefor the sum of $300.00 per annum, payable in advance. Said license to run for one year from the date of its issuance.

SEC. 19.3-7 RESTRICTION. No picture shall be shown to the public in said movie house which is immoral or tends to invite racial or class hatred.

SEC. 19.3-8 REVOCATION. Said license may be revoked by a three-fourths vote of the Town Council for the violation of any of the provisions of this ordinance or the laws of the State of Illinois pertaining thereto.
