Multimodal Transportation Center

Conceptual rendering looking from above the roundaboutThe Town of Normal has finalized designs for a state-of-the-art Multimodal Transportation Center facility. The facility will be located just west of the Children’s Discovery Museum and north of the railroad tracks. The Transportation Center will bring together the services of: Amtrak trains, Amtrak High Speed Rail (HSR), interstate and regional buses, airport shuttles, the local Bloomington-Normal Public Transit System buses, taxis, and bicycles. The building will also include a 280 car parking garage to accommodate vehicular parking needs throughout Uptown Normal.

Conceptual rendering looking from the Gateway PlazaThe Transportation Center will also have a limited amount of retail and office space, including a community room for local agencies and organizations to use as a meeting space. The facility will undoubtedly be a cornerstone of Uptown Normal and will serve as a gathering space for the entire community. Construction of the building may begin as soon as additional state and federal funding is secured.
