The elected officials representing small communities in McLean County were invited to attend this meeting of the Steering Committee to provide the Committee with insights concerning the impact which growth in Normal will have on these communities. All elected officials indicated that their communities can support only very limited growth at this point given deficiencies in sanitary sewer treatment systems and/or potable water resources. Even though each of the communities are experiencing some growth pressure, they currently can support only very limited new development.

Each of these elected officials indicated that it is important for the twin cities to involve the small communities in McLean County as they plan for future growth. The elected officials also indicated that they would like to take advantage of the expertise available to them through the City of Bloomington and the Town of Normal. In addition, they indicated that it would be helpful, on occasion, to be able to borrow specialized pieces of equipment that each of these villages do not have but occasionally need. Mark Peterson indicated his support for allowing these villages, on occasion, to borrow specialized pieces of equipment so long as their employees are properly trained.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 8:15 p.m.
