Green Team Report and Recommendations [PDF]
Purpose & Background
In November of 2006, the Normal Town Council adopted an environmental stewardship policy, which is intended to create long-term environmental benefits through sustainable practices and policies. The environmental stewardship policy generally focuses on six primary areas that have been established by the nationally recognized Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. Those six areas include:
- Sustainable Sites
- Water Efficiency
- Energy and Atmosphere
- Materials and Resources
- Indoor and Outdoor Environmental Quality
- Innovation in Design
In order to ensure that the Town would continue to work toward the goals and ideals identified in the environmental stewardship policy, a committee of Town employees were brought together and charged with identifying opportunities related to the six areas identified above. The committee, which adopted the name of the Green Team, first met in January of 2007.
