Call to Order
Ms. Matter called the meeting to order at 12:03 p.m. and noted a quorum was present.
Minutes:
Minutes of March 8, 2005 were approved as submitted.
CA-05-03-07, 1304 Hillcrest Avenue: Tuckpointing and Brick Replacement
Ms. Kerestes shared the information submitted by Ms. McBride for the tuckpointing and brick replacement at her home at 1304 Hillcrest Avenue. Ms. Kerestes noted that she had been working with the applicant in choosing appropriate replacement brick color and texture and that D.T. Masonry had been selected by the applicant to do the work.
The Commission was pleased with the efforts by Ms. McBride to select the most appropriate brick color and texture.
Mr. Ward asked about the front stoop, whether it would be part of the tuckpointing and replacement work. Ms. Kerestes said it would, that the project covered all the brick from the foundation up, on all four sides of the home. Ms. Kerestes also noted that much of the work would be done to the front porch and south and east walls. The Commissioners mentioned that they had noticed that the south wall was bowed and needed considerable work. Ms. Kerestes noted that D.T. Masonry would match the new mortar color and raking with the existing.
Ms. Armstrong moved to approve the tuckpointing and brick replacement work for 1304 Hillcrest as submitted. Mr. Warloe seconded. The motion carried 4-0.
Other Business:
Ms. Kerestes reminded the commission that May is Historic Preservation Month and updated them on the events that were scheduled, including the art contest underway at Normal Community West High School and Glenn Elementary School and the Old House Society Open House on April 30.
Ms. Kerestes also mentioned the expedited review approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness CA-05-04-08E for the repair of a roof leak at 19 Broadway Place. Ms. Kerestes said that Mr. Shepard of 19 Broadway Place also wished to apply for a Bone Grant for the work. It was determined that this work would be considered maintenance and not restoration and therefore not eligible for a grant. Ms. Kerestes said she would let Mr. Shepard know and let him decide whether or not to proceed with filing the grant application.
Adjournment
There being no further business, Ms. Matter moved that the meeting be adjourned at approximately 12:30 p.m. Mr. Ward seconded. The motion carried 4-0.
Respectfully submitted,
Lauren Kerestes
