Call to Order
Ms. Matter called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and noted a quorum was present.
Minutes
Ms. Armstrong moved, Mr. Warloe seconded to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on October 11, 2005. Motion carried 4-0
CA-0510-37E, 21 Broadway Place, Repair leak on front porch clay tile roof
Ms. Kerestes said that Mr. Crews of 21 Broadway Place, would like to repair a portion of the tile roof at his residence because it is leaking through the bead board underneath. Ms. Kerestes said this process could be done with an expedited review, however since the he was also requesting a grant, that the Certificate and grant were being presented together.
Ms. Matter approved the Certificate of Appropriateness for the roof repair at 21 Broadway Place through expedited review.
BG-05010-09, 21 Broadway Place, Repair leak on front porch clay tile roof.
The commissioners agreed that preserving the clay tile roof was an absolute and that because of the nature of this unique roofing material, the repair would be eligible for a grant. Mr. Crews received two bids, one from Renaissance Roofing and the other from Boyd Riddle roofing. Ms. Lois Rubbel, Power of Attorney for Mr. Crews said she would likely choose Boyd Riddle roofing, the lower bid. The quote from Boyd Riddle is $3,830.00 Ms. Armstrong moved to approve the Bone Grant in the amount of $1,915.00. Mr. Ward seconded. Motion carried 4-0.
CA-05-11-39, 618 N. School, New screen door and revised porch railing detail.
Ms. Kerestes said Mr. Aldrich provided two bids for a new screen door. One from Midwest Lumber and another from Alexander Lumber.
The quote from Midwest Lumber is for a view full cedar storm/screen door for $897.00. The bid from Alexander’s is for a pine screen door for $300.19
The railing has been change to steel post flange anchored to
concrete and wrapped with wood. Step railing will match porch
rail. The wood handrail will be more inline with the porch rail.
Mr. Warloe moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness
for either door (Mr. Aldrich can choose) and for the porch
railing as presented, Ms. Armstrong seconded. Motion carried
4-0.
BG-05-11-10, 618 N. School, New screen door
Ms. Kerestes noted that a correction from the agenda. BG-05-11-10 was only for a new screen door. The request did not include the porch railing, as the agenda specified.
Several of the commissioners thought it would be best to choose with the cedar storm door over the pine door, because they thought it would be more historically accurate, as well as provide better insulation for the home.
Mr. Ward moved to approve the Bone Grant request the for cedar storm door only in the amount of $373.50. Ms. Armstrong seconded. Motion carried 4-0.
CA-05-11-41, 511 N. School, New architectural shingle roof.
Ms. Kerestes explained that Mr. Murphy would like to replace his asphalt roof with new landmark architectural shingles.
Mr. Ward moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness, Mr. Warloe seconded. Motion carried 4-0.
Other Business:
- Additional grant request by Scott Morgan of 1302
Hillcrest- There was a motion to amend Bone Grant
BG-05-07-07 providing an additional $123.78 for door
hardware. Mr. Ward moved to approve the additional
funding and Ms. Armstrong seconded, Motion carried
4-0.
It was noted that the following cases had been
approved through expedited review:
- APPROVED: CA-05-10-38E, 607 N. School, 6’ fence
extension from existing fence to rear of house to enclosed
rear yard
- APPROVED: CA-05-11-40E, 726 N. School, tuck-point existing chimney and replace capstone
Adjournment
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at
approximately 7:40 p.m.
