CA-06-11-36-, 310 W. Virginia, Remove asphalt shingle and restore beach board siding to dormer windows, replace dormer windows and aluminum storms with Jeld-Wen windows.
Ms. Armstrong described the work that she would like to have done to her residence at 310 W. Virginia. Ms. Armstrong explained that they had a new roof put on this year and discovered that the dormers where shingled up the side over the original beadboard. Ms. Armstrong said she would like to restore the original look of the house by installing new wood beadboard siding. The Commission thought that this would really would be a like for like situation.
Ms. Armstrong said she would also like to replace the dormer windows and remove the aluminum screens. Ms. Armstrong said they are in bad shape and the bid to re-glaze was too expensive. Ms. Armstrong would like to replace them with JELD-WEN wood windows, which would not require a storm window. Ms. Armstrong said they would be primed at installation, but then painted in the spring.
The Commission determined that, because four over four windows were not available, the new windows should be four over one to match all of the other windows in the house.
Mr. Warloe moved to approve the certificate of appropriateness for the replacement of the windows as shown as JELD-WEN four over one and also for installation of new wood beaded siding to restore the original appearance of the dormers. Mr. Felumlee seconded.
