Normal Town Council Strategic Planning Process
In November of 2007 the Normal Town Council conducted a two-day strategic planning retreat. The Council utilized their time at the retreat to plan their goals and objectives for the years 2013 and 2023. The Council’s vision for the future now helps guide them in their day to day decision and policy-making processes.
The Town Council plans to hold similar retreats on annual or bi-annual basis to ensure that the vision for Normal remains updated and that the action steps to achieve the vision are being completed.
A summary of the 2007-2008 strategic planning session is included below:
The Mission of the Town of Normal is to:
Provide excellent public services in a responsive,
efficient manner
AND TO
Plan for future development while protecting the community’s
investment that adds value to our citizen’s lives
The Town of Normal’s Goals for 2010:
- Ensure a financially sound community and maintain commitment to service excellence
- Create a vibrant Uptown that will be an exciting destination
- Manage growth through quality development standards
- Create and maintain livable neighborhoods that are great places to live
- Become a more sustainable community through the protection of our natural resources
- Build stronger community partnerships with other governments and organizations
The Town of Normal Vision for 2020:
Normal is a family friendly community that is home of Illinois State University. Our Town has a vibrant Uptown and a strong local economy. Our community is designed for beauty, has a range of quality neighborhoods and homes, and has technological connections. We take pride in Normal!
