Summer Day Camps
Normal Parks and Recreation has 3 Day Camp locations. The same schedule of activities take place at all 3 locations. Activities include: swimming, group activities, arts and crafts, field trips and much more. Participants must bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and a lunch each day. Freaky Fridays
This program is designed to provide participants with an exciting day of fun and games. The majority of the activities are out of town field trips. Freaky Fridays are separate from day camp and require an additional charge. This activity is open to any child entering 1st thru 6th grade. There are two different activities to choose from each Friday.
Jr. Camp Counselor Program
This program is open to individuals entering 8th grade. It is designed to give a select few (no more than 10) a chance to get some early supervisory experience that may be beneficial for future job opportunities. A seasonal employment application must be completed and returned to the Normal Parks and Recreation office at 611 S. Linden St. by May 1st. Three letters of recommendation are required (2 of the 3 must be from a teacher or administrator). Applicants will be interviewed and if selected, will be responsible for paying a fee which will cover their field trip costs as well as staff attire. Jr. camp counselors will help with programming and implementing activities which include crafts, group games, swimming and weekly field trips. This involves an 8 week commitment. The hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Thursday. Each Jr. Counselor will be responsible for their own transportation to and from camp each day.
