Wee Ball Instructor

Department: Parks and Recreation/Sports & Athletics

Distinguishing features of work:

  • Instruct beginning level of t-ball to boys and girls ages 4-5.
  • Wee Ball focuses on involving participants in fun games and activities that have baseball/softball concepts

Examples of work performed

  • Working with program director and fellow instructors to develop weekly and daily lesson plans
  • Developing creative ways to introduce a game and/or fundamental skill
  • Coordinating with co-workers to keep class moving, being fun and involving all participants in activity
  • Leading games and activities in large group and small group settings

T-Ball Instructor

Distinguishing features of work

  • Instruct t-ball to boys and girls ages 5-6.
  • T-Ball stresses teaching the fundamentals of the game; hitting, catching and throwing as well as the rules of the game.
  • Instruction is held Monday – Thursday with simulated games played on Fridays.

Examples of work performed

  • Working with Program Director and fellow instructors to develop weekly and daily lesson plans
  • Instructing fundamentals in large group and small group settings
  • Coordinating with co-workers in an effort to keep class moving, being fun and involving all participants.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Must have general knowledge about the game of baseball/softball through playing the sport through preferably high school or beyond.

Pre Ball Coach

Department: Parks and Recreation/Sports & Athletics

  • Coaches are hired to coach two teams that practice back to back. Coaches are responsible for attending all of the teams scheduled practices and games during the season

Examples of work performed

  • Planning, organizing and coaching team practices
  • Teaching baseball/softball skills. Coaches must coach and teach fundamentals
  • Demonstrating various skills and drills to players
  • Recruiting parents to help coach during practices and games
  • Treat all players fairly, giving each player the chance to play different positions

  • Must have knowledge of game and enjoy coaching youth sports

Concessions Stand Worker (Softball Complex)

Department: Parks and Recreation/Sports and Athletics
Pay Rate: $7.50/hr
Dates of Employment: Late May – Early August
Concession stand hours are weeknights and weekends
Avg. hours per week: Varies but can be 30 or more if available on weekends
Age Requirements: 15 years & older (15 year old must receive work permit)

Distinguishing features of work:

  • Workers will become familiar with all aspects of the stand from food preparation, food service and point of sale (working a register)

Examples of work performed:

  • Preparation of food to include hot dogs, nachos, jumbo pretzels, pop corn, sodas and more
  • Food Service which is taking the prepared item and packaging for the consumer
  • Point of Sale, to include; taking orders, ringing sales into register, collecting money and giving change

Before/After School Enrichment Supervisor
