Waste Division Overview

On which day of the week is my refuse collected?

  • Refuse collection is provided to persons residing in single-family dwellings and duplexes.
  • Solid waste should be containerized in receptacles having close-fitting covers with handles for carrying.
  • Weight - The combined weight of the receptacle and its contents shall not exceed 35 lb. (except garbage carts purchased from the Town). Plastic bags tied at the top, having a minimum thickness of 1.5 mils, may also be used.
  • Cardboard Boxes - May be placed out for collection, however, they must be flattened. Boxes with refuse placed in them will not be collected.
  • Receptacles must be placed just behind the curb in front of the residence by 5:00 am on the day of collection, but not earlier than 6:00 pm on the preceding day. Empty containers must be returned to the residence within 12 hours after collection.
  • Animal waste must be bagged separately and included with household waste.
  • Food waste (fruits, pumpkins and vegetables) should be included with regular trash.
  • Motor Oil for Other Flammable Liquid - are not to be placed out for collection. Motor oil can be disposed of by taking it to a service station or to the Public Works Facility at 1301 Warriner for recycling between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Please ask for assistance when bringing materials of this nature to our facility.
  • Fluorescent lighting tubes must be broken into small pieces and wrapped in plastic, then placed in approved metal or plastic covered containers with household waste. The glass from mirrors, all framed windows and doors must be shattered, removed from the frame and the glass placed in double-thick labeled plastic bags with household waste.
  • Note: Pumpkin disposal should be included with household waste; place the pumpkins in either a garbage can with a lid or a closed plastic garbage bag.

If trash is not collected, check for an orange sticker; it will indicate why the trash was not taken. You have three working days to correct the problem. If the violation still exists after three days, the items will be collected and you will be charged $100. If you have questions call (309) 454-9571.
