All About Normal
Empowering Residents Through Education
What services do my property taxes fund? How does the Town plan for street improvements and new parks? How can I effectively communicate my questions and concerns with Town officials?
If you have ever asked yourself these questions or other questions related to local government then All About Normal may the key to unlocking your answers. The Normal Town Council decided to create this unique learning opportunity as a way to encourage residents to become more informed and involved in their local government. The first class, which consisted of 20 Normal residents, was held in the spring of 2007.
The 2008 All About Normal class will be an eight week educational course taught by various Town staff members. Each week participants will spend approximately two and half hours learning about a particular aspect of local government, including public safety, finance, parks and recreation and much more. Each session will also include facility tours, interactive exercises or other field demonstrations.
There is no cost for this exciting new opportunity; however class size will be limited to approximately 25. A small class size helps to ensure a more interactive experience, and that each participant will receive adequate individualized attention.
The Town plans to offer the All About Normal program once a year in the late winter and early spring.
For more information on this exciting new opportunity or for application information please contact the City Manager’s Office at 454-9504.
