Habitat for Humanity Homes on Vernon Avenue
Completed Spring 2006
The Town of Normal partnered with Habitat for Humanity of McLean County on this exciting residential redevelopment project. Six attractive new Habitat for Humanity homes have now replaced four badly deteriorated single-family homes that had previously been used as rooming houses. The design of these new homes incorporated the historic character of surrounding neighborhood, including porches, rear alley access, raised foundations, small setbacks and mature trees.
Families were first able to move into a few of the houses in December of 2005. Construction on the remaining homes was completed in the spring of 2006, and they are now fully occupied.
