Mayor Markowitz and Mr. Hamilton were invited to speak with the Steering Committee on items of mutual interest pertaining to the long-range plans for both the City of Bloomington and the Town of Normal. Mayor Markowitz and Mr. Hamilton provided comments on a variety of topics which are listed below.

  • Regional Water Resource Planning
  • Affordable Housing
  • Joint Development of Fire Station on Far East Side of Bloomington-Normal
  • Joint Development of Public Library Branch on Far East Side of Bloomington-Normal
  • Coordinating Downtown Redevelopment Plans
  • Main Street Redevelopment
  • Public Transit/Light Rail/Trolley System
  • High Speed Internet System via Fiber Optic Cable
  • Boundary Line Agreements with Smaller Rural Communities
  • Storm Water Management Issues (New Federal Regulations)

Again, Mayor Markowitz and Mr. Hamilton shared general long-range development plans for the City of Bloomington. They indicated that both cities are cooperating and coordinating on the update of the Regional Comprehensive Plans via the McLean County Regional Planning Commission.
