The Italianate style is characterized by two-story structures, concentrated massing of form, much (though not compulsive) bilateral symmetry, low-pitched, hipped roofs, bracketing under the eaves, rounded window lintels, and double-leaf front doors. The Italianate structure at 206 W. Lincoln was built by John R. Gaston between 1866 and 1870.
