Historic Preservation Awards

In honor of National Preservation Month, the Normal Town Council and Historic Preservation Commission are proud to announce the fourth annual Preservation Month awards ceremony. Artistic renderings of three historic properties done by students at Glenn Elementary, NCHS, and NCWHS will be displayed in Town Council Chambers, Normal City Hall, 100 E. Phoenix, throughout the month of May. The three properties highlighted this year are 17 Clinton Place, 313 W. Virginia and 604 Normal Avenue of the following historic districts Cedar Crest, Highland and Old North Normal, respectively.

On May 5, 2008 the Town Council will kick-off Preservation Month by presenting awards to the winning students at 6:40 p.m., at Normal City Hall, 100 E. Phoenix Avenue, Normal.

Preservation Month Architectural Treasure Hunt 2008

Beginning Friday, April 18, 2008 – Monday, May 5, 2008 residents are encouraged to pick up a treasure hunt form and complete it. All forms with the correct answers that are turned in to the City Clerk at 100 E. Phoenix Avenue, Normal, IL 61761 by NOON on Monday, May 5th are eligible for a prize drawing that evening before the Town Council meeting. Winners need not be present to win one of the following prizes:

2nd prize: $30 Medici Gift Certificate to Stefanie Michaelis
3rd prize: $20 Cosi Gift Certificate to Michelle Kaiden
