Historic Preservation Commission
New Residents

Welcome to the neighborhood! Not only does the Town of Normal hope you enjoy living in one of the best communities in Illinois, but also in a neighborhood rich in character, culture, and heritage.

The Town is very pleased to boast a preservation program established in 1990, ten landmarks and three historic districts-Cedar Crest (also on the National Register of Historic Places), Highland, and Old North Normal-that include over 200 properties. We are delighted you have chosen to be a part of the endeavor to preserve the historical resources exemplified in these areas.

In an effort to continue to preserve the character of our landmarks and historic districts, the Town of Normal Historic Preservation Commission is charged with requiring and reviewing Certificate of Appropriateness applications for construction projects and issuing monies for restoration projects through the Robert G. Bone Grant Program.
