Uptown Renewal Plan
Assists the Uptown Re-Development Director with the Uptown Renewal Plan that will encompass the redevelopment of the Amtrak Station to accommodate high speed rail; renovation of existing structures and the building of new ones; and the implementation of new economic opportunities in the business, professional, retail and entertainment/leisure sectors. Sugar
Creek Arts Festival
Organize and support the annual Sugar Creek Art Festival held in Uptown Normal every 2nd weekend in July. The Art Festival is a showcase for local, state and national artisans to display and sell their work. A variety of entertaining performances and food concessions are offered during the event.
Sweet Corn Blues Festival
Organize and support the annual
Sweet Corn Blues Festival
held in Uptown Normal every year the first weekend after Illinois
State University begins its fall semester. The event includes the
sale of more than 16 tons of sweet corn cooked by an old steam engine
and provides some of the best blues bands in Central Illinois.
