Before and After School Enrichment Program

BSEP/ASEP Lottery Results

The Normal Parks and Recreation Department offers a Before and After School Enrichment Program at eight Unit 5 Elementary School sites. These schools include: Colene Hoose, Fairview, Glenn, Grove, Oakdale, Prairieland, Parkside, and Sugar Creek.

This program is designed to provide a safe environment for children as well as offer them educational, social and recreational opportunities. Trained staff supervise this program. Children are provided a light snack before and after school while at the program. The program also allows time for children to work on their homework while staff and volunteers are there to assist them. This program is offered to Kindergarten thru Fifth Graders ONLY.

Registration Information

Registration for the BSEP/ASEP program takes place in May prior to the start of the new school year. Due to the increasing demand for this program, a lottery system is used to complete the initial enrollment for the 1st session of the school year. Once you get into the program, you are guaranteed a spot for the remainder of the school year provided you re-register each nine week session. Sometimes spots do open up after a re-enrollment in which case, new participants have an opportunity to get into the program. Open spots are filled by the lottery system so registration forms must be turned into the Parks and Recreation office by the deadline listed in the program guide. Tele-trac and Web-trac WILL NOT be options for registration. Refer to the Program Guide for registration dates and the registration form. Each May, registration opens up to everyone for the fall session. Priority is not given to anyone currently enrolled.

Time Out Programs

Time Out programs are offered throughout the Unit 5 school year for children in K thru 5th grades. Special activities, as well as field trips, are offered on most of the days Unit Five is not in session. Refer to the Program Guide for details. Refer to the “Teen” section of the program guide for programs geared to 6th thru 12th graders.
