out the new Safety Town located in Carden
Park behind Fire Station #3 along Raab Road near Towanda
Avenue. Previously located
in Underwood Park, the new Safety Town opened in October of 2005.
The facility is available to the public during regular park hours,
or can be rented for birthday parties or other activities.
Safety Town is for "young drivers" to ride bikes in a safe, low traffic area and is very "kid friendly", with miniature signs, small scale roads and its own play equipment. The miniature fire truck is popular for kids of all ages. Safety Town 'Depot' is a 50 capacity shelter and is adjacent to the "Town" and can also be reserved. Restroom facilities can be accessed at the rear of Fire Station #3. Private rentals can be done at the Normal Parks & Recreation office and are seasonal, April thru October.
