Rental Information

Shelter and Diamond Reservations

Reservations for the use of picnic shelters and softball diamonds may be made in person at the Normal Parks and Recreation Department, 611 S. Linden. Mail and telephone requests will not be accepted. There is no charge for usage of shelters or ball diamonds, except for the lighted softball diamonds where a charge of $20.00 will be assessed for electricity. Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis beginning the 1st weekday in March through mid October.

Equipment Loan

Equipment kits containing various equipment, horseshoe kits and volleyball kits are all available on a checkout basis from the Normal Parks and Recreation Department. Equipment for weekend use may be checked out on Fridays. Equipment to be utilized during the weekdays may be checked out any time through the week during office hours, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. There is an equipment deposit in the amount of $20 for each kit checked out. If weekend use equipment is not returned the following Monday, your deposit will not be refunded. Equipment checked out during the week that is not returned the following day will also result in forfeiture of your deposit. Charges will also result from lost and/or damaged equipment.

Recreation Facility Rentals

The Normal Theater, Ironwood Golf Course Clubhouse, the Community Activity Center, and both Anderson Park Pool and Fairview Family Aquatic Center are available to groups and organizations who wish to have meetings or their own "special event" on a rental basis. Normal Theater

The Normal Theater seats up to 400 people in an auditorium atmosphere ideal for seminars, private film showings, and other presentations requiring assembly-style seating. Call (309) 454-9720 for fees.

Ironwood Golf Course Clubhouse

The banquet facility at the Ironwood Golf Course is an ideal place to host a wedding reception, birthday party, Christmas party, etc. The banquet facility capacity is 100 people. Please call the Ironwood Pro-Shop at (309) 454-9620 for rates and availability of dates.

Community Activity Center

The Community Activity Center is located at 1110 Douglas Street in One Normal Plaza. This building has recently been renovated and features three different size rooms for community use.

Social room: (40' x 65') The largest of the rooms, the Social Room can accommodate 112 people for a sit down meal or 135 people for a meeting. The cost if $250.00 based on a three hour rental. The social room is immediately inside the front entrance of the building.

Activity Room: (35'x 35') The Activity Room is ideal for meetings. The room accommodates up to 80 people. No food or drinks allowed in this room. This room is located just north of the Social Room. The cost of $150.00 based on a three hour rental.

Classroom: (20' x 40') The Classroom is perfect for small meetings, classes or lectures. This room accomodates up to 40 people. The cost is $100.00 based on a three hour rental.

Fairview Family Aquatic Center and Anderson Aquatic Center

These two facilities are available for two hour rentals in the evening and occasionally on weekend mornings. Rental reservations will be taken at the Normal Parks and Recreation Department beginning the 1st weekday in March until the Friday prior to Memorial Day. All reservations after the pools open for the season must be made at the aquatic facility being rented. For reservations, contact the Normal Parks & Recreation office at (309) 454-9540.

Birthday Party Packages:

Package 1 Admission, cookie, drink and balloon for each child. $65/$90
Package 2 Admission, cupcake, ice cream cup, drink and balloon for each child. $80/$120
Package 3 Admission, slice of pizza or hot dog, cupcake, ice cream cup drink and balloon for each child. $100/$140

  • All birthday parties include admission for up to 10 people (children and adults). Maximum party size is 20 children. Additional adults must pay regular pool admission fees.

  • All parties are scheduled for 2 hours which include free swim as well as time at the birthday table. Games can be provided upon request. Parties are geared toward 6-12 year olds.

  • Birthday group will have a reserved table in the birthday area of the concession stand at Fairview or their own party room at Anderson.

  • Birthday child will receive a T-shirt.

  • Each birthday group will have a hostess that will set things up, cater to the groups needs and even do all the clean up!!

  • Birthday parties must be scheduled during public swim hours, Noon to 8 p.m.

  • Reservations must be made in person at the pool.

  • All birthday parties must be paid in full when the reservation is made. Visa/Master cards ARE accepted at the pool.

  • Birthday cake may be brought in, however, all other outside food and drinks are prohibited.

Safety Town

Safety Town is for ‘young drivers’ to ride bikes in a safe, low traffic area and is very ‘kid friendly’, with miniature signs, small scale roads and its own play equipment. The miniature fire truck is popular for kids of all ages. The facility is available to the public during regular park hours or can be rented for birthday parties or private rentals. Safety Town Depot is a shelter that can hold 50 people. It is adjacent to Safety Town and can be reserved. Restroom facilities can be accessed at the rear of Fire Station #3. Reservations can be made at the Normal Parks & Recreation office beginning March 1st. Rentals are seasonal, April thru October. Safety Town is located in Carden Park behind Fire Station #3 along Raab Rd.

Children's Discovery Museum

Rent the Museum!
Host your next corporate meeting, family reunion or fund raising event at the Children’s Discovery Museum in our colorful classrooms, birthday party rooms or rent the entire Museum. Rates available upon request. Contact Marci Rich at (309) 433-3455.

Birthday Parties
Birthday celebrations are a blast (and easy!!) at the Children’s Discovery Museum. Museum parties include: exhibit exploration, a private party room and a birthday party host who leads activities, helps serve refreshments and create party mementos.

Birthday Bash
$120 ($10 discount for Museum passholders) includes:

  • Birthday child and his/her parents

  • Adult chaperones (one adult required for every five children)

  • 12 children (additional children $8 per child)
