Bulky Waste Collection
Definition
Bulky waste refers to large items that cannot fit into your
household waste garbage cart. Bulky waste is collected each week on your
regular garbage collection day.
Items that should
not be included in bulky waste include:
- Shingles - contact a private firm or a landfill for proper disposal.
- Landscape rock - small amounts may be included with household waste.
- Electronics - state law requires that electronics be recycled.
Materials from work done by contractors will not be collected.
Instructions for Collection
Bulky waste items weighing not more than 500 pounds should be placed at the curb separate from regular garbage containers, landscape waste,
brush or
leaves. If you have cardboard to include with your bulky waste pick up please flatten the cardboard and place out for collection. Do not fill boxes with items for bulky waste collection.
Bulky waste should be set out after 6:00 pm the day prior to collection or before 6:00 am on your regular collection day. Help us to be more efficient - do not place bulky waste near trees, overhead wires, poles, street signs, fire hydrants, next to parked cars or on the street.
Commercial Dumpsters
Property owners must rent a commercial dumpster from a private firm when they:
-
Are doing major renovations, such as re-roofing

-
Have debris exceeding 500 pounds
