David S. Anderson Park
History
10.5 acres was acquired by Normal in 1962, which was known as Ash Park. In 1962, the National Recreation Association was hired to develop a master park plan to apply to the land. In 1967, a survey showed the town had need for a second aquatic center, so a bond was issued to begin construction on a pool. In 1998, Ash park was renamed Anderson Park after the former Normal Parks Director David S. Anderson. Since then, the park has added several amenities to the park which include a picnic area, playground, ballfield, basketball courts and tennis courts.
