Free Mulch

Brush is collected from residential properties and ground into mulch, which is available to the public at no charge.

Instructions/Information


  • Call first to check on availability:  (309) 454-9571.
  • Enter the Public Works yard at the Electronics Recycling entrance (follow electronic recycling signage) then continue back to the mulch pile at the southwest corner of the yard.
  • An employee driven loader may be available to load mulch during the hours stated below (call first to check on availability).
  • The loader operator has multiple jobs and may not be at the mulch pile when you arrive. Please wait at the site and he will be with you within a few minutes. If you wait more than 10 - 15 minutes, contact the Public Works Office Associate at (309) 454-9571.

Self-service Mulch

Mulch is available for  self-loading 24/7 at the southeast corner of the Landscape Waste Drop  Site (when supplies are available - we occasionally run out of mulch).
