As someone who uses the Town’s One Normal Plaza facilities, you may be interested in an upcoming public hearing regarding potential zoning code changes within One Normal Plaza. In sum, the proposed changes would divide One Normal Plaza into four subareas with zoning code provisions tailored to each subarea. These changes were initially discussed at a public hearing in 2020, but the public process was then suspended due to COVID.
The public hearing process for the proposed zoning code changes for One Normal Plaza will continue on Thursday, August 5 at 5 p.m. in person in the Council Chambers on the 4th floor of Uptown Station (11 Uptown Circle). Free parking is available in the attached parking deck. Notice of the August 5 public hearing has also been published in the Normalite, and notices have been mailed to all property owners within One Normal Plaza and within 400 feet of One Normal Plaza. Signs have been posted on the site as well.
The staff report is online at https://www.normal.org/401/Planning-Commission under the “Most Recent Report” link. At the public hearing, Town staff will give a brief presentation to summarize the proposed zoning code changes as it has been so long since the original presentation.
If you have any questions in advance of the public hearing, please call or email. If you would like to testify at the public hearing, there is no need to pre-register.
